# Change Background

Put a product into a new setting described in your own words, or remove the background, for marketing and catalogue images.

Change Background puts a product or object into a new setting that you describe, or removes the background altogether. Use it to make marketing and catalogue images from a plain product photo.

## What you need

* A photo of the product. See [Uploading images](/luw.ai-app-docs/working-with-images/uploading-images.md) for the file types you can use. A plain studio shot, like the chair above, works well.
* A prompt that describes the new setting, or a photo whose style you want to copy for **Style Transfer**.

## Give a product a new background

1. Open **Change Background** from the Dashboard or from **All Tools** (app.luw\.ai/adwizard).
2. Upload your product photo. When the upload finishes, the form moves to **Customize and Generate** by itself.
3. Describe the new setting in the **Prompt** box, for example "on a travertine plinth in a sunlit gallery".
4. Optional: pick a **Type** and up to three **Styles** to set the scene.
5. Choose the number of **Designs**, the **Visual Strength** and the **Model**.
6. Press **Generate Image with AI**. Your results appear in **Latest Designs** below the form. Click one to open it in the [result viewer](/luw.ai-app-docs/results/result-viewer.md).

If the background comes out unrelated to what you wrote, turn **Prompt Enhancer** off so your exact prompt is used. It's on by default in this tool and rewrites your prompt before generating.

### Remove the background only

Turn on **Remove Background**. The tool then removes the background instead of replacing it, and the prompt and style settings are hidden.

### Copy the style of another photo

Turn on **Style Transfer** and add a picture in the **Add Photo for Style Transfer** slot. The new setting takes its style from that picture, so the **Prompt**, **Styles**, **Prompt Enhancer** and **Visual Strength** settings are hidden while it's on.

## Settings

| Setting                      | What it does                                                                                                               |
| ---------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **History & Change Persona** | Switches to another persona or starts a new one. See [Personas and history](/luw.ai-app-docs/getting-started/personas.md). |
| **Remove Background**        | Removes the background instead of replacing it. Hides the prompt and styles.                                               |
| **Type**                     | A room or exterior type for the scene, for example Living Room. The **×** clears it.                                       |
| **Style Transfer**           | Takes the style from a photo you add instead of from styles and a prompt.                                                  |
| **Styles**                   | Opens the style picker. Choose up to 3 styles; click a style again to remove it.                                           |
| **Prompt**                   | The new setting, in your own words.                                                                                        |
| **Prompt Enhancer**          | Rewrites your prompt into a fuller one before generating. On by default here.                                              |
| **Designs**                  | How many results to make: 1, 2, 3 or 4. The free plan makes 1.                                                             |
| **Visual Strength**          | How closely the result keeps your photo: **Precise** keeps more, **Creative** changes more. **Balanced** is the default.   |
| **Model**                    | **Symphony** (default) or **Aria**. Both cost the same.                                                                    |

## Credits

Each design uses 1 credit ("1 token / generation"). Making several designs multiplies the cost.

## Tips

* Describe the surface, the place and the light, as in "on a travertine plinth in a sunlit gallery".
* If the product itself changes too much, try **Precise**.
* Make 2 to 4 designs to get a few scenes to choose from.
